Community Safety Partnership logo

Safer Hull is Hull Community Safety Partnership (CSP). A multi-agency partnership working together to enable safer stronger and more resilient communities.

Our purpose is to tackle -

  • crime
  • disorder
  • anti-social behaviour
  • drug and alcohol misuse problems
  • serious violence

Safer Hull brings together -

  • Hull City Council
  • Humberside Police
  • Humberside Fire and Rescue Service
  • Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership
  • Probation Service

These five organisations make up the responsible authorities. Set out in section five of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 they have a duty to work together with other local agencies. They put in place strategies that make a difference to the lives of local people.

To strengthen and complement our work, The Director of Children’s Services and the Director of Adults Services are key members of the board. They provide vital links to the wider safety of vulnerable people in the city.

There are leads from -

  • Hull Youth Hull City
  • Prevent/Channel
  • Voluntary and community sectors

The vision of the partnership is to create safe, clean and vibrant communities where people and businesses can thrive. We work together to understand the diverse needs of our communities. Engaging with local residents to make their communities stronger and more resilient.

It is important that we understand what works to enable us to deliver activities that make a difference to our communities. Our partnership plan focuses our efforts around outcomes so we will know with certainty what difference we have made.

Our Community Safety Strategy 2021 - 2024 sets out the vision of the partnership, our annual delivery plan captures and addresses our partnership objectives. It also identifies issues and concerns highlighted to us by our communities. It gives us a holistic view of neighbourhood assets and problems.

The current health and economic climate means we must improve community safety with reduced resources and increased restrictions. We know that with the commitment of all partners of Safer Hull and the wider community, we can work together to tackle the issues that matter in our local community.

Our Vision

Safer Hull will work collaboratively to -

  • create safe, clean and vibrant communities
  • engage local residents to make their communities stronger and more resilient
  • ensure the voice of the victim and those who are vulnerable shape our work

Our priorities are -

  • reducing serious and violent crime
  • reducing people who offend and reoffend
  • support vulnerable people and victims of crime to access appropriate services and interventions
  • engage, enable and empower communities to develop community safety solutions

Serious Violence Duty

The Serious Violence Duty will require -

  • local authorities
  • the police
  • fire and rescue authorities
  • specified criminal justice agencies
  • health authorities

to work together to formulate an evidence based analysis of the problems associated with serious violence in a local area, and then produce and implement a strategy detailing how they will respond to those particular issues.

  • Prisons
  • youth custody agencies
  • educational authorities

may also need to work with these core partners.
