Family First Programme
On 20 March 2025, the Department for Education published the Families First Partnership (FFP) programme which details the delivery expectations for safeguarding partners in relation to a national reform.
The three strands of the reform include
- Family Help
- Multi agency child protection
- Family Group Decision Making
The key factors of the FFP ensure that there is a strong emphasis on early intervention, with children and families accessing the right help and support when they need it. Children and families are at the heart of support and children should be supported to live within their family network whenever possible. Partnership working is key, and families should have the opportunity to come together to offer support, and make plans, to respond to concerns regarding a child’s welfare.

Over the coming months we will be working collaboratively with all partners to seek views in order to ensure the successful implementation of the Families First Partnership programme. We will continue to provide regularly updates through the HSCP governance structures and subsequent newsletters.
