Families First Partnership

Families First Partnership – Hull Overview

The Hull Families First Partnership is about building stronger families and brighter futures for children across our city.

Our shared ambition is to ensure families receive timely support by working collaboratively with -

  • families
  • schools
  • health services
  • Humberside Police
  • community organisations

We want every Hull family to genuinely feel -

  • listened to
  • understood
  • supported

What is the Families First Partnership?

The Families First Partnership Programme is a national initiative designed to improve children’s social care across England. In Hull, we are embedding this approach to create a more joined-up, family-focused system of early help and child protection.

The programme centres around -

  • providing the right Family Help at the right time
  • establishing Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams (MACPTs)
  • using Family Group Decision Making to involve families in planning

It is underpinned by the Working Together to Safeguard Children framework and aims to ensure children and families in Hull receive the support they need, when they need it.

Why Are We Changing?

We recognise that families in Hull often must repeat their story to multiple services, which can be exhausting and disheartening.

The Families First Partnership aims to change this by -

  • offering help earlier—before issues escalate
  • ensuring families only need to tell their story once
  • bringing the right professionals together to work as one team
  • making sure the family’s voice is central to every decision and plan
